| What are Benefits of Martial Arts Training | Step into virtually any gym these days and you will find a class on involving some form of "cardio martial arts", such as Tae Bo. But are such classes really martial arts?
I would have to say no, as there is more to martial arts training than just exercise, such as discipline, dedication, artistry, combat, self defense. However, I would also say such classes can be a fun introduction to martial arts for the mainstream public.
Cardio kick boxing workouts allow you to burn out 350 to 500 calories in just an hour. It also helps maintaining the heart rate at 75 percent to 85 percent regular beat. This has been proven to be good and is the recommended range if you are exercising or into training.
But you can get the same cardio benefits, if not more from regular martial arts training... you only have to do a few rounds of sparring to see what real world cardio is!
Although there re some classes where you only perform katas/patterns (combinations of techniques you perform to an imagined opponent). However, equally there are classes where students practice on quality martial arts equipment such as punching bags, kicking shields and focus mitts, before progressing on to using sparring gear.
